Recently, I was in Klang, Malaysia for my Internet MLM business

Klang is famous for ‘Bak Kut Teh’.

‘Bak kut teh’ literally translates as “pork bone tea”
and consists of pork ribs in a broth of herbs and
spices boiled together with pork bones for hours.
Additional ingredients may include mushroom, lettuce,
and tofu.

Klang, widely believed to be the home of bak kut teh,
is famous for her many bak kut teh restaurants. What
I can say is that it’s delicious, tasty and mouth-
watering…even as I write about it now

Yesterday morning, I drove to church supposedly 20
minutes away from the hotel I stayed in Klang.

Though I’m a Singaporean staying about 400 km away,
I’ve been to Klang on several previous trips and was
confident of driving around…

However, as I gunned down the highway, I took a left
turn to exit and after several minutes, found that
I’m into some place totally unfamiliar.

Then I quickly used my secret tactic:

I did a ‘U-turn’

… and head straight back to the highway, hoping to
find the right exit.

However, the road connected straight across and I ended
at the other side of the the highway. I kept driving
and after several minutes, it dawned on me that I’m
hopelessly and desperately lost.

The church service begins at 10.30 while my watch showed
10.40 already.

I had to pull over to a side road and used my 2nd secret
weapon:

No kidding this time. It’s a thick, tattered and torn
street directory of the entire Klang Valley I carry in
my car for emergencies such as this.

After several minutes of thumbing through the pages, I
found my way once again and got there in time to attend
most of the service.

And thank God I received an important lesson here…

When I was totally lost, I wanted to call my friend at
the church to give me directions but I realized one thing:

There’s no way he could help me.

Because I didn’t know where I was. In fact, I had to spend
several minutes just to locate where I was, flipping
through several pages of the street directory.

And then, I had to know where my destination is. Again,
I had to locate that in the directory.

Once I knew where I was and where I was going, I had to
figure out how to get there.

So, do you know where you are in your business? Meaning…
do you know what are your strengths and weaknesses? Are
you more efficient online or offline?

And, do you know what is your destination? What do you
want to achieve? Long term? This month?

Last week (3rd week of May 2007), an Internet MLM Expert, Daegan Smith flew all the way from the US to Singapore. This is his first time to Asia sharing some of his advanced secret traffic generation strategies.

Following that, Daegan Smith conducted a one-day ‘Advanced Targeted Traffic Generation Workshop’ for his Success University downlines in Singapore.

It was a day packed with contents. Not only did he explain, he also showed screenshots of the results he achieved. He went through how to achieve targeted traffic generation like email marketing, blogging, article marketing, forum marketing, press release, newsletter advertising and pay per click marketing.

But here’s the most important lesson in his entire traffic generation workshop. In short, he revealed an entire new way of doing things with the simple stuff that we already know like a composer who combines the 12 musical notes into a beautiful piece of music.

This is what he taught us. He combines several traffic generation tactics like email marketing, blogging and article marketing into one awesome MLM traffic system that is not only free but highly effective in generating targeted traffic to our web sites and blogs!

Since Internet MLM is a special breed of vehicle to financial independence, many people tend to focus on doing this business solely through the Internet.

There’s really nothing wrong with that except for one thing…

If someone is already an intermediate or experienced Internet marketer, this is a great! Just put up their online campaigns and their results would start rolling in.

However, more often than not, I come across many people who are just beginning to pick up Internet marketing (whom are usually called ‘newbies’). After all, this is a new global trend that started in the US and now getting HOT in Singapore, Malaysia and other parts of Asia!

My point is this:

Newbies need time to learn and apply. There’s a learning curve that I estimate to be at least a few months, say 3 to 6 months. If there’s no one to guide them, they’ll take even longer. . . I’ve been through this myself, having invested heavily to attend seminars, workshops as well as acquire resources.

So, what happens during this period of learning is that newbies feel they are not earning while they are learning. . . And this is especially true for membership sites where some newbies might feel that they are losing money and might even give up altogether just when the results are about to come in. Sad but true. . .

For those who have some form of network marketing or MLM experience, it would be a smart move to jumpstart your Internet MLM business by sharing your work-at-home opportunity with their family and friends. (On the other hand, I would not advise the same for people who have no such experience as they would likely face lots of rejection which they are likely not able to handle and as a result, give up their Internet MLM business prematurely.)

In the meantime, they should put in the consistent daily effort to learn how to market their business online. In this way, they would begin to see results quickly due to the high touch nature of personal sharing and in time to come, when their online marketing campaigns start to kick off and bring in the results, they can place their new members under their family and friends.
